Former Occupational Therapist Turned UX/UI Designer? I have questions….
Let me answer some of those for you.
My background is unconventional but it gives me an important perspective that lends itself well to UX/UI design and research. Being an occupational therapist is all about figuring out how people from a spectrum of abilities can participate more successfully in daily tasks. Problem solving, collaborating, interviewing, project management - it’s all there.
So why did you become a UX/UI designer?
I have always loved design, but I also love helping people overcome hurdles. The advantage of UX/UI design is that it incorporates aspects of graphic design with my skills as an occupational therapist. I am particularly interested in accessibility and learning more about how to design with marginalized groups in mind.
